Marketing opt-in for new contacts
LoopChat records each contact’s marketing consent as Campaign Opt-in. Contacts who are opted out don’t get broadcasts or marketing templates. Here’s what the setting starts as for each way a contact can be added.
Adding one contact
Section titled “Adding one contact”When you add a contact with Add contact, the form has a Campaign Opt-in switch:
- Leave it on if the customer has agreed to receive promotional messages.
- Turn it off if they haven’t.
Contacts created from a message
Section titled “Contacts created from a message”When a customer messages your WhatsApp number for the first time, LoopChat creates the contact automatically, with Campaign Opt-in on. They wrote to you, so they’re treated as reachable until they say otherwise.
Importing contacts
Section titled “Importing contacts”On the last step of an import, tick These contacts agreed to get marketing messages from us on WhatsApp if everyone in the file has agreed. LoopChat records that consent for the contacts in the file.
An import never overrides an opt-out. Someone who has opted out stays opted out, even if you import their number again.
Contacts from integrations or the API
Section titled “Contacts from integrations or the API”Contacts created by an integration, a webhook or the Developer API start with Campaign Opt-in on. Shopify customers who have said no to marketing in your store are still kept out of marketing messages.
Changing opt-in later
Section titled “Changing opt-in later”You can change Campaign Opt-in on a contact at any time. Customers can also change it themselves by replying STOP or START. See Opt-outs.
